As you are aware, President Trump has declared a national emergency regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. The situation is fluid with daily changes and updates to recommendations. In the interest of limiting the exposure of patients, facility staff, and our surveyors to the COVID-19 virus, and in order to reduce the burden on facilities that are devoting their efforts to combating the transmission of COVID-19, Quad A is suspending routine on-site resurvey activities. However, due to the National call to increase healthcare capacity, Quad A may continue to conduct initial surveys on a case by case basis.
We will be working directly with these facilities that require surveys as needed, in many cases to provide modified services in response to the emergency situation. In addition, Quad A will continue to provide certain surveys at the discretion of the Quad A Board, including in response to complaints related to Infection Control or patient abuse.
Quad A will work with facilities that are due for re-accreditation surveys on all pre-survey activities up to the point of scheduling the onsite survey. Such facilities will be contacted directly and advised of further steps that may need to be taken. Quad A will continue to consider valid the Accreditation and Medicare participation of facilities whose accreditation expires during this suspension. Postponed on-site re-accreditation surveys will be conducted once normal operations resume.
