Dr. Janice Izlar honored with AANA Award in Outstanding Accomplishment

Written by QUAD A | Sep 12, 2023

At QUAD A, we strive to put patients’ needs at the forefront of everything we do. It’s simple, really. We put Patients First. Always.

Our accreditation programs are the essential instruments through which we verify that healthcare facilities prioritize patients, offering them access to high-quality healthcare, safe medical treatments, up-to-date equipment, and compassionate care from medical professionals. We even enhance our accreditation programs by maintaining our organization as physician-led and peer-driven because no one understands the safest path better than those within the healthcare industry.

That said, we are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievement of our very own Dr. Janice Izlar, DNAP, CRNA, FAANA, a valued member of the QUAD A board. She has been honored with The American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology's (AANA's) 49th Annual Agatha Hodgins Award for Outstanding Accomplishment. The award was presented at this year's AANA Annual Congress.

The Agatha Hodgins Award for Outstanding Accomplishment, established in 1975, pays tribute to individuals whose commitment to excellence has advanced the art and science of nurse anesthesia. This esteemed award is in honor of Agatha Hodgins, the association's founder and first president.

Since joining the QUAD A Board in 2014, Dr. Izlar has leveraged her strategic connections with fellow board members to drive impactful and transformative changes in CRNA practice, particularly in ambulatory surgery. Her efforts on the QUAD A Board led to critical revisions of standards, allowing full practice for CRNAs. During her tenure, Dr. Izlar became the first female and non-physician to chair a major committee within QUAD A.

Upon accepting this well-deserved recognition, Dr. Izlar graciously said, "I am honored to receive the Agatha Hodgins Award for Outstanding Accomplishment. There are many others who deserve to share in being recognized for these accomplishments. This includes the program administrators, their faculties, the AANA, GANA, GBON, and the Quad A Boards and staff whose dedication has made incredible strides to remove practice restrictions for CRNAs."

Dr. Izlar's impressive career embodies the spirit of the Agatha Hodgins Award for Outstanding Accomplishment and reflects the core principles of QUAD A, and the entire QUAD A team extends our sincere congratulations to Dr. Janice Izlar for this outstanding accomplishment. We take pride in the fact that she is a QUAD A board member, allowing us to further our mission of putting Patients First, Always.
