CMS Announces New Regulations Regarding Vaccination Status in Healthcare Settings

Written by QUAD A | Nov 10, 2021

On November 5, 2021, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published an interim final rule (IFR) containing emergency regulations requiring COVID-19 vaccination of eligible staff at health care facilities that participate in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. The IFR provides for a 60-day public comment period by which facilities and individuals may comment on specifics within the rule.

The full IFR can be found at Federal Register:: Medicare and Medicaid Programs; Omnibus COVID-19 Health Care Staff Vaccination

Those desiring to make a public comment on this rule may do so, no later than January 4, 2022, by visiting Regulations.gov selecting “Comment” and following the “submit comment” instructions.

QUAD A will be reviewing provisions of this rule and updates to standards will be forthcoming as required by this IFR. All potential standards revisions will be shared with facilities and surveyors once complete and approved.
